Gold armour, red silk, and a laurel crown — this boot borrows its palette from a 17th-century portrait of a young French king being crowned by Victory herself. Where his court would have worn ceremonial hose and ties, we've built a working boot with the same colors and quiet confidence.

Soft cream leather rises into a deep burgundy folded cuff, with a wrapped ankle strap detail echoing the tied bindings on the king's own leg armour in the source painting. It's regal without being loud — a boot for a young sovereign, not a battlefield general.

Inspired by History

This design is drawn from "Louis XIII Crowned by Victory," an early 17th-century portrait produced in the workshop of Peter Paul Rubens, held at the Musée de l'Armée in Paris — one of the historical artworks behind our Boots Through History line.
