The Equerry — Van Dyck Court Riding Boots
Not every figure in a royal portrait wears the crown. Beside Van Dyck's mounted King Charles I stands his riding master — Pierre Antoine Bourdon, Seigneur de St Antoine — the man trusted with the horse itself, dressed for work rather than display.
This boot takes its cue from him rather than the King. Clean camel leather, a soft unstructured leg, and a simple stitched pull-tab at the cuff — no velvet, no embroidery, just the honest riding boot underneath all that Baroque finery. It's the boot that actually knows how to sit a horse.
Inspired by History
This design is drawn from the figure of the King's riding master in Anthony van Dyck's 1633 portrait "Charles I with M. de St Antoine," held in the Royal Collection — one of the historical artworks behind our Boots Through History line.

Built to a Standard Most Don't Meet.
Every pair is cut, lasted, and finished entirely by hand in our workshop. No shortcuts. No substitutes.

Full-Grain Leather
Top-tier bovine full-grain — the same grade used by luxury fashion houses. Sourced from heritage tanneries.
Hand-Welted Construction
The upper, welt, and sole are stitched together by hand. This is the benchmark of quality shoemaking.
Your Exact Measurements
Not a standard last. Calf circumference, foot length, instep — built to your anatomy.
Resoleable for Life
Built the way boots were built before fast fashion. The sole can be replaced. These boots are meant to last.
